INTRODUCTION
Dacon Trading Co., Ltd. is a wholly owned affiliate of Dacon Inspection Services Co., Ltd. (DIST). DIST is now a leader for inspection services in onshore and offshore industries as well as pipeline services to support the inspection related pipe and pipeline activities that mainly involve with oil and gas, petrochemical and power industry. The company was originally incorporated in Norway in 1979 and established a new office in Thailand since 1996 to cover the whole South East Asian region. In the year 2006, Dacon Trading Co., Ltd. (DT) was initially established to work as an approved BSP travel agent of IATA (the Internatioanl Air Transport Association) offering professional worldwide traveling arrangement; air ticket, hotel & travel booking under its trade name “Thaiwings”. Significantly, we have also been operating and involving in trading business focusing on safety-approved lighting tools and watertight protector cases. DT has been accredited for being an authorized distributor of Pelican Products, Inc.,U.S.A. in Thailand. Pelican is a world leader of a multi-product with a complete line of submersible and waterproof, explosion proof flashlights and protector cases.
HISTORY
Dacon Inspection Services was originally incorporated in Oslo, Norway in 1979 as a diving and sub sea inspection company. After initial involvement in several development projects in the early days of the oil exploration in the North Sea, Dacon was in 1984 contracted by Elf to develop the worlds first ROV deployed internal Well head inspection tool.In 1993 Dacon’s first office in Asia was opened in Singapore, providing inspection services in the South East Asia region. In 1994 a representation was established in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with services being provided mainly for Malaysia’s offshore field and eastern seaboard petrochemical industries. In 1996 Dacon established a new head office in Rayong, Thailand and soon was established as one of the leading inspection service supplier both offshore and in the country’s bustling petrochemical, refinery and power industry. Along the way Dacon developed into a full fledged inspection company with all conventional NDT, regular inspection and specialized inspection. Dacon today holds one of the largest equipment parks in the region and amongst other is the only supplier for all categories of tubular inspection (see equipment section for more information).In 1999 Dacon started development of a brand new intelligent pigging system on request from the French Total and Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTTEP). This was to be developed as a tool capable of providing the pipeline Total/PTTEP had experienced inaccuracies from other In Line Inspection (ILI) tools. In 2001 Dacon started an IT service company
in Ban Chang Rayong proving both hardware and services. This is now specializing in Wireless/ WiFi IT communication In 2006 a trading company, Dacon Trading was incorporated to trade in petrochemical industry related maintenance and inspection products, as well as being an authorized agent for Pelican Industries commercial torches and boxes.In 2006 Dacon also purchased 4 rai of land, next to Sukhumvit Road in Ban Chang. A new property company, Dacon Eastern was formed as the owner of this land, with the intention to lease the land to DIST to build a new office and test/laboratory facility on.Also in 2006 Dacon rented an additional 4 rai of land in ban Chang, where a large full scale pipeline testing facility has been built. This test yard is now being used by oil companies like PTTEP and Chevron to test out pipeline applications intended for offshore sub sea use.In 2007 Dacon started a travel agency specializing in commercial traveling and arrangements.
The ThaiWings.com has been approved by IATA (International Air Transport Association) as a full member and will start issuing tickets in March 2007.Since its start in Thailand in 1996, Dacon has grown to employ a total of 40 employees and operates its own fleet of cars and a training center for its employees.
